PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

When paintwork is so badly damaged that a normal polish is no longer sufficient, the SONAX Profiline Polish CutMax 6:4 (250mL) comes into play. With a cutting power of 6 on the SONAX scale, it’s the most aggressive polish in the PROFILINE range. We specially designed the product for situations requiring maximum material removal: deep scratches, sanding marks from P1000 sandpaper, orange peel, overspray, and heavily weathered paint surfaces. Despite this high cutting power, it works virtually dust-free thanks to Low Dust Technology and leaves a gloss level of 4/6, which in most cases only requires a quick finishing step.

What the Product Does

The SONAX Profiline Polish CutMax 6:4 (250mL) is a highly abrasive cutting compound for polishing sanded or severely weathered paint surfaces. This odorless, silicone-free compound has a long buffing cycle, resists dusting, and wipes off easier than any compound has the right to. It is strong enough to remove from 1,200 to 2,000 grit sanding marks on fresh paint, yet advanced enough to finish with a gloss level of 4 on a scale of 1-6. The compound can be applied with a rotary or dual-action polisher.

Benefits vs Features

Benefits

  • Maximum Abrasive Performance for Severe Defects: This polish’s abrasive combination is designed for fast, deep material removal. It removes sanding marks from P1,200 grit and up in a single polishing pass. Even baked-on insect residue, deep scratches, and years of neglected weathering are effectively removed. This abrasive performance measurably saves time in the workshop because fewer passes are required compared to less aggressive products.
  • Low Dust Technology for Clean Working: High cutting performance with many polishes also means a lot of polishing dust. The product solves this with its special low-dust formulation, which stays on the pad and the surface throughout the entire polishing process without creating dust. This eliminates the need for post-polishing cleaning and prevents polishing dust from getting into freshly painted areas, which is a critical issue in paint shops.
  • Excellent Gloss Development: The gloss level of 4/6 is remarkable for a polishing compound of this aggressiveness. Many competing products with comparable cutting performance leave a matte, cloudy finish that absolutely requires a finishing step. CutMax comes significantly closer to the final result. In fact, on many paint finishes, a quick pass with a finishing polish is sufficient to achieve showroom shine.

Technical Features

  • Low Dust Technology: Features a non-sticky solution that keeps the compound bound to the pad and the painted surface, reducing residue accumulation. This helps speed up the working process and ensures a tidy finish.
  • Water-Based Compound: Made of a liquid compound, which means the working cycle for each vehicle is often extended. Its unique formula resists early drying, even under high-intensity buffing cycles.
  • 1,200 and Above Grit Defect Removal: Capable of removing 1,200 sand paper grit and above while achieving a low level of paint matting, hence requiring minimal follow-up refinement.
  • Rotary Polisher Optimized: The product works effectively on a rotary polisher, but still gives impressive results with a dual-action polisher.
  • Versatile Cutting Pad Compatibility: Works with any kind of heavy foam cutting pad be it hybrid wool pads, or lambswool pads.

How to Use

  • Prepare the Surface: Wash the surface thoroughly to remove any dirt and decontaminate using a clay bar. Leave it to dry for at least 60 minutes before applying the polish.
  • Fix the Polisher and Pad: Ready the polisher and choose the type of pad you want to use.
  • Apply the Product: Apply three to four pea-sized dots of polish to the pad and spread it over the workpiece at low speed. Then increase to working speed and polish in passes with a 50 percent overlap. Work in sections of approximately 40 by 40 centimeters.
  • Wipe Off the Excess: Buff off any remaining polish with a clean microfiber cloth and check the result under an LED lamp. Once all defects are completely removed, proceed to the finishing step. If any scratches are still visible, repeat the process. Also, it’s better to do a second, controlled pass than a single pass with too much pressure, which can cause holograms or heat marks.

FAQ

No. The SONAX Profiline Polish CutMax 6:4 (250mL) is formulated with a heavy water-based compound that keeps your pad lubricated as you polish. The trade-off is that it extends the working cycle compared to regular abrasive compounds.

In truth, a deep sand pitting crater in the UAE cannot be polished out. In fact, any attempt will only make it worse since it might burn straight through the thin clear coat.

In most cases yes. The product has a gloss rating of 4/6 on Sonax’s scales, which often leaves behind a slight matte finish, although can be cured easily.
